When the security / commodity rises >= 20% from recent lows over a sustained period of time (lasts for months, even years). Usually hard to predict, only recognised after it happened.
What is a Bear market?
When the security / commodity falls >= 20% from recent highs over a sustained period of time (eg 2 months or more)
